Description
Formerly known as DDLS, Lumify Group is a leading provider of ICT and Cybersecurity training.
Lumify People (previously known as DDLS People) is one of the Group's core brands. It aims to support Defence organisations in keeping pace with the rate of change with strategic advice, training and support from our specialist teams.
Established in 2009, Lumify has provided the sector with advanced training and advisory services for over 30 years. With more than 200+ staff across the Asia Pacific and 6 campuses in central business districts in Australia, Lumify is focused on delivering innovative solutions that meet the unique needs of the Defence community.
The training and strategic advisory partner for Defence organisations
Lumify People provides specialist advice, training and support from the ground up. In one successful engagement, Lumify consultants assisted in automating requisition and replenishment activities as part of a wide range of enhancements to the Defence logistics information system. This project involved working with millions of records to improve workflows to deliver efficiencies and cost savings.
Lumify’s logistics and supply chain experts successfully delivered the project with a phased approach over several months. They were able to streamline the stock requisition and replenishment process with new, efficient and effective workflows to improve supply and reduce costs. Key outcomes included reduced stock delivery time from and between warehouse locations, reduced transportation costs and improved workflows and processes within geographically diverse warehouse locations.
Upskilling for Defence Small Businesses
SMEs can explore Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry Grants Program. This aims to develop human resources practices and training plans. It supplies grants of between $5,000 and $500,000.
Defence businesses can apply for multiple grants or group multiple eligible activities into one application.
Lumify People GM Kenneth Hoppe has also been appointed to the Victoria Committee of the Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN). This appointment sees him involved with programs that advocate for, represent, network with and provide member services to the nation’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the defence and security sectors.
Boosting skills and confidence of individual personnel
Lumify also supports individual Defence personnel to upskill through programs like the MSSA Program and the Lumify Defence Academy.
The MSSA program is a 17-week intensive program run in conjunction with Microsoft. The program aims to equip veterans with in-demand technology skills and make the transition from military service to civilian employment smoother.
On top of the technical curriculum, veterans receive professional development opportunities, allowing them to engage with industry mentors and get guidance in career planning and developing skills.
Veteran and former MSSA participant Matt Spencer completed the program in 2022 and later took a position at Microsoft as a Software Engineer following a 14-year career in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). According to Matt, the most significant challenge the course helped him overcome was understanding how the corporate side of business works compared to the rigid structures and career paths of military life.
“Understanding how to market yourself on platforms like LinkedIn and write a strong resume is really useful,” he says.
The Lumify Defence Academy includes a wide range of IT courses that veterans can access. This program is beneficial for those transitioning to civilian life. Interested personnel may confirm if they are eligible for Career Transition Training as part of the Defence Force Transition Program, providing up to $5,320 in financial support.
For Defence veterans, a career in IT helps leverage existing skills. Individuals can earn qualifications to validate experience or choose the next Advanced level course. Personnel with minimal IT experience can speak with Lumify about training options to help launch their careers.
Whether it is to meet organisational outcomes or personally increase skills, look to Lumify People for support when it comes to thriving in today’s complex digital environment.
