In 2010, Kongsberg Defence Australia (KDAu) was established to deliver and support its programs in Australia, New Zealand and the region.  With over 40 employees split between our two main sites in Adelaide and Canberra,  KDAu works closely with a growing local supplier base on several programs. Currently, KDAu is undertaking local production and integration of major systems for the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS) for Army, and is leading the C4 integration for Army’s future Protected Mobile Fires capability. KDAu is also responsible for the manufacture of Ship Installed Equipment, launcher manufacture and assembly, and installation and integration services for the KONGSBERG Naval Strike Missile (NSM) onto the Royal Australian Navy’s HOBART Class Destroyers and ANZAC Class Frigates.

KONGSBERG is recognised as a global technology leader in defence, surveillance, space, aerostructures and maintenance, repair and overhaul and has achieved significant international success in a number of selected niche technology areas. These include NASAMS, NSM, Joint Strike Missile (JSM), the PROTECTOR remote weapon stations and MCT-30/40 turrets, Remote Digital Towers for air traffic control, and space based maritime surveillance.

Kongsberg Defence Australia is building a substantial production and integration facility in Mawson Lakes, South Australia, the first for KONGSBERG’s Defence related business in the Indo-Pacific region.  This facility will be fully occupied and operational from Q2 2024.
